North Carolina Congressman Puts HR 2382
at 301 Co-sponsors !

As 2019 drew to a close, North Carolina Congressman David Rouzer (R-D-07) became the 301st co-sponsor of HR 2382, the USPS Fairness Act.

State President Craig Schadewald reports that this was due in large part to the persistent efforts of District 7's LCCL John Cowan and Branch 464 members' phone calls.

Earlier, the USPS Fairness Act, H.R. 2382, reached a huge bipartisan majority in the House of Representatives, with 300 co-sponsors.

Thank you for contacting your Congress member and standing for a better and stronger Postal Service. Let's keep the momentum going in the Senate and get this done in 2020!

North Carolina Letter Carrier Relief Fund. A reminder to our brothers and sisters in North Carolina who have suffered damages and/or displacement as the result of recent storms: The State Association’s Relief Fund provides a one-time donation of up to $500 to help you with some of your basic needs while you are waiting for funds from your insurance company and/or the Postal Employees’ Relief Fund. The NCSALC Relief Fund aids NALC members and their families in the event of natural disasters such as hurricanes, flooding and fires. In order to receive this one-time donation, write out a statement showing why you need the money and the amount—not to exceed $500.00. Have your branch president sign the statement, then mail your request for aid to NCSALC President Craig Schadewald, 568 Deer Run Road, New Bern, NC 28562.
The North Carolina Letter Carrier Relief Fund is supported by the state’s branches and individual contributions. There is currently $13,000.00 in the Relief Fund.  Those wishing to make a donation may do so by making out a check to the North Carolina State Association of Letter Carriers and mailing it to Treasurer Debbie Stone at 409 Osceola St., Gastonia, NC 28054. Mark it for the Relief Fund.

Important Legislative Message
From NCSALC President Craig Schadewald

Legislation, H.R. 2382 has been introduced to repeal the prefunding mandate. Please read the attached Fact Sheet and then contact your House Representative's and ask to co-sponsor. Use the information from the fact sheet to explain why this is necessary. This is NALC HQ top priority at the moment. Also, communicate this with Branch Presidents in your congressional district to discuss at Branch meetings.
If the prefunding mandate were removed and a new rate setting system (now being developed by our regulators) were installed, the agency would be well-positioned to thrive in the 21st Century by investing in its networks and new products and improving service
quality – all while honoring its retiree health obligations.

     (Read the entire message here.)
