We Must Keep On Top of Things
First, I would like to thank the State Executive Board for honoring me as the "Retiree of the Year" for 2018. It was truly a surprise, but it is a real honor. I'm very humbled by this token of appreciation. Also, congratulations to Jessie Lowe for 2017 and Janis Layne for 2015, (she just received it this year).
Thanks also, for being re-elected as Area 5 Representative for the state of NC. I look forward to serving you these next 2 years. Congradulations to all board members for this 2017-2019 term.
Fall is here and that means the elections will be coming soon in November. We must all just keep on top of things that are happening in our country with our political leaders. The very jobs, benefits, and working conditions you have are being looked at. Stay alert and be ready to stand up for this NALC union.
My deepest sympathy goes out to the families of Branch 545 members Johnnie Douglas "DUCKY" Hill and Franc Alexander.

It Has Been a Joy to Serve

After the 2015 convention in Raleigh, NC (June 2015), I attended our Region 9 Rap Session in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (Aug. 2015). We had a special Executive Board meeting on Oct. 25, 2015; called by our State President Eddie Davidson. The Spring Seminar in Charlotte, NC (Mar. 2016); the National Convention in Los Angeles, CA. (Aug. 2016); Fall Seminar in Raleigh, NC ( Oct. 2016); and our Spring Seminar in Winston Salem, NC (Mar. 2017). I also helped with the last election (Oct./Nov. 2016 to "get out the vote".

On September 30, 2015 I retired from the US Postal Service after over 30 years of carrying mail. I can tell you, it is GREAT! I will continue to be active as a NALC retired union member at the local, state and national levels.

It has been a joy to serve as your Area 5 Representative for 2015-2017 and I look forward to serving Area 5 for another two years.

In addition to being re-elected to serve another term as Area 5 Representative, Sister Butler also received the Retiree of the Year Award for 2018.
